An unusual and unique Arts and Crafts end of terrace family home, designed originally by the architect JH Kennan.
The brief was to modernise and extend, whilst maintaining the original features of the main house. The property is unusual in that the front door opens into the garden and not onto the street elevation. A full refurbishment was carried out, gutting the property back to the brickwork and joists.
A contemporary spacious extension was designed, merging the modern with the period property. This main family room has a generous kitchen, dining area, reading corner and utility room. Slimline or frameless glazing was used to emphasise the views onto the lush trees surrounding the property and bring the connection to nature into the interior. The exterior was partially re-landscaped to allow for a parking space, new paved entry path and patio.
The loft was a tight space, but the light and views from the bedroom were maximised with multiple skylights. A compact ensuite bathroom was added too. The house was brought to life with the colour scheme, designed by interior designer www.borgoottointeriors.com, using calming neutrals with pops of colour.
